On March 12 that according to Business Insider, Apple has been recruiting advertising talents frequently recently and may be accelerating its plan to launch an Apple TV+ subscription plan with advertising.
According to reports, Apple has newly hired Joseph Cady, who has served as an advertising executive at NBC Universal for more than 14 years. Kaidi is good at data-driven and precise advertising, and was previously responsible for the advertising cooperation between Comcast’s subsidiaries and Amazon, Google, TikTok and other companies.
It is reported that Kaidi is expected to cooperate with Winston Crawford, Apple’s head of global advertising sales. The Apple TV+ team is led by Crawford, who previously worked with Todd Teresi, head of Apple’s advertising department, to lead Apple’s project to acquire the advertising sales rights to Major League Soccer (MLS).
The report also mentions several other recent hires to Apple’s advertising team, including video ad account manager Chandler Taylor from Peacock, Jacqueline Bleazey from FanDuel’s ad sales team, and Jason Brum, who has worked at DirecTV, NBC Universal and other companies.
Although Apple has not made it clear whether it plans to launch an Apple TV+ subscription plan with ads, the move is not surprising given that Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max all offer lower-priced ad-supported subscription plans.
It is worth mentioning that in October last year, Apple increased the subscription price of Apple TV+ from US$6.99 to US$9.99 per month, and the annual fee also increased from US$69 to US$99. Therefore, offering more affordable packages would be a logical move from a competitive perspective.
